About Us

We are a "bunch" of friends, kids and moms, from San Antonio who love good food and love to hang out. We found a way to combine those elements with the San Antonio Lunch Bunch. Our first year we were on a mission to find the best burger in San Antonio. This year we are on the hunt for the best pizza in town. Stay tuned and see where our summer takes us.

Florio's Pizza

Today we went to Florio's at 7701 Broadway. This New York style pizza joint, tucked on the backside of a little strip mall, does a hopping business. Florio's was clean and bright, and the walls were covered with New York posters and memorabilia. There was a checkerboard floor and red with black tables. There was also a nice little area you could sit outside in the cooler months.

Within moments of the doors opening for the day, quite the line had formed as people waited to place their orders. The counter service was prompt and efficient. The cost was comparable to the places we have been visiting.
The pizza came out quickly and was piping hot. Some liked Florio's pizza crust, but this pizza taster thought it was too thin and a bit bland. The cheese and sauce combination was good on each of the pizzas, and the toppings were pretty standard fare, although I found the pepperoni pizza very skimpy on the meat. There were some pieces of the pizza that had little or no pepperoni. The Supreme Pizza  had plenty of toppings, but some of the toppings were a disappointment. Florio's relied too heavily on pre-prepped ingredients. I am not sure if this was for saving time or possibly a bit of money. Whatever the reason...it made the pizza a disappointment, as the veggies had the texture you would expect on a frozen pizza.
Everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed trying out another candidate on our pizza quest. The moms gave Florio's an overall score of 2.3. The kids gave it an overall of 3.4.
